The Vampire Coven is Nevermore

Here is one of my favorite Dollish Polishes, Vampire Coven.  I loved the mix of glitters.  I originally got this hoping it would be a dupe of Lynnderella Very Pretty Vampire, and it is close, but not exact.  I'm happy to own both.  To see Lynnderella photos click here.  

I started out with my one coat of magnificence that is Cult Nails Nevermore.  A deep shining black that never disappoints.  Then I put one coat of Vampire Coven over top.  WINNING.

I love this combo.  As with all of my Dolly's, I'm in love.

What's This? Deal with It!

Another combo from before Halloween coming your way.

I started off with two coats of Cult Nails Deal with It.  This is a gorgeous shimmery electric green.  I only used two coats because I knew I was layering it, but as you can see there was a bit of VNL showing.  

Then I added two coats of Dollish Polish What's This from her Halloween collection.  This polish screams Halloween to me.  It had a great mix of colors and sizes.  The large black squares were pretty easy to get out along with the rest of the glitter.   This is a hungry glitter, but one coat of gelous and one coat of Seche smoothed it out perfectly.

Green Goblin Feels Froggy

In keeping with the Halloween theme, I have another Halloween colored mani today.

I started off with 2 coats of Cult Nails Feeling Froggy, a beautiful green with lots of shimmer.  If you haven't purchased any Cult Nails, stop right now and go buy them!  I have quite a few of their polishes and I've NEVER been disappointed.  The formula is rich and easy to control, the color choices are unique and the wear time is outstanding.  I love supporting a great small business and I wish them all of the continued success in the world!

Then I sponged a bit of F4 Green Goblin on the tips.  F4 is another one of my favorite indie polishes.  They have a great formula and fantastic customer service.  They always have a great stock of items in their Etsy store.  As always the glitters were easy to get from bottle to nail and it applied easily and cleanly.  Go get F4 polishes!

Let's Go Terps!

GAH!  So sorry for my absence, I've been in the throws of back to school events for both kiddos.  My boys are in 4th grade and Kindergarten!

This week their schedules (and mine) are back to normal, which means blogging should be as well.

Today I have an insanely awesome custom polish from F4 to share with you.

As a University of Maryland College Park alumna and season ticket holder for football and basketball, I needed a polish to show off my Maryland Pride.

Last year Under Armour designed a series of uniforms to highlight the Maryland State Flag, seen below.

Our flag is based on two families coat of arms, the Calvert (Black and Gold) and Crossland (Red and White) families.

The geniuses at UA decided to base an entire uniform on this flag.  Then had the vision to put that on the team during the ESPN opening game.  The result?  MD fans everywhere went gonzo for this beauty.  Across the country most blanched at the tackitasticness of it, but us Marylanders?  We loved it.

These are two sides to the same uniform.  We fell in love.

Needless to say there aren't a lot of red/white/black/gold polishes out there.  A few, yes, but the ones I've found had hearts or diamonds in them.  Then, of course, there is the issue of what to layer it over.

So I went to the amazing ladies at F4 to make my precious, I didn't know if they did customs, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.  I told them I wanted a red/white/gold glitter polish in a clear base to wear over black to wear to wear at the games.  I sent them the MD flag for inspiration.   Because they are the epitome of awesome, they created it for me.  They named it "Maryland Pride".

It has small white square glitter, medium gold hex glitter and large red hex glitter.  Over black it just comes ALIVE!  I couldn't be more thrilled.

Okay, enough talking, photo time:

GAH, I just love it.  I put on one coat of Cult Nails Nevermore and then ONE coat of Maryland Pride.  There is some weird reflections going on in these photos, it was NOT bumpy, it was the way the, it was the best I could get on the way out the door to the game.  On my ring finger I have that stupid ridge that I got back in June at Disney World.  I can't wait to grow this thing out!

To show you how awesome their color matching was, I took a photo on each side of my son's MD pride shirt - here is the black/gold side (this was taken indoors so pardon the lighting, the boy wouldn't move outside and the shirt was on him, little stinker!):

Simply perfection!  I even had the lady next to me and her daughters ask me where they could get it because they loved it!

Nevermore is Phenominal

Originally, my go to one coat black polish is a England Camelot.  However I've found I've been shying away from using black bases because I don't want to use it up.  It can be sold out often on web sites and so I was afraid to use up all of my precious.

So when I heard Cult Nails Nevermore was an equally awesome black, I picked it up during one of their $5.00 sales (which are awesome, seriously, follow them on Facebook to be sure you know when they are coming!).

This polish most definitely delivered.  A one coat black, with ease of application AND fantastic shine.  One top I put one coat of HITS Phenomena Moonbow, a gorgeous color shifting glitter top coat.  There are so many different colors that flash in this manicure, I can't even tell you!  

Fantastic pairing and with 2 simple, easy to apply coats I was base coat to top coat done in 20 min!  (For me?  This is good, usually I spend more time cleaning up my nails than painting them!).

Power Thief Gets A Little Kindness

I enjoyed Cult Nails Power Thief so much from my last manicure, I didn't want to take it off!

Then I got a delivery of the Equestria Collection from Rainbow Honey in the mail and I decided to put A Little Kindness on top.

I have always been a fan of the combination of pink and brown and I think these two polishes layered perfectly together.  The pink shimmer on top of the brown really made it interesting.  The mix of glitters was fantastic.

I thought the polish was wonderful, the formula was great and the glitter was easy to get from bottle to nail.  I just used one coat to top it and I didn't have to "work" the polish at all.  I wasn't a huge fan of the brush on the mini polish, but I was able to work with it.  I can't wait to try more of my Rainbow Honey polishes!

I loved this combo so much I didn't take it off for my next meeting!  This combo also wore like iron on my nails, at the time I posted this?  4 days.  No chips.  Holla!  (I am so ridiculously hard on my nails, this is a miracle!)

Power Thief

I have a heavy meeting week this week, which means that my nails will be less blingy than usual.

For today's meeting, I decided to put on Cult Nails Power Thief.  A beautiful brown with silver shimmer.   It is subtle, but still full of intrigue, so I loved it.


Below you see two coats of Power Thief.


As always, Cult Nails gives a fantastic formula and application.  I'm in love with her polishes!  I've yet to be disappointed.

Coldplay is Iconic

I went to see Coldplay in concert this week and it was very difficult decide on my concert manicure.  Naturally, a yellow manicure came to mind, but during the rainbow challenge I used my two favorite yellows.  I was revisiting the Cult Nails Feel Me Up, when another Cult beauty caught my eye - Iconic.

This was the one, what a perfect fit in name to go with Coldplay.  This is the fourth time I've seen them in concert and what strikes me so much with them is how much they seem to LOVE performing.  Chris Martin is so passionate when he performs.  You know he is enjoying performing as much as you are watching it.  For this reason they are one of my iconic bands.

The polish matches the band too, on the exterior it just seems like another red, but once you look deeper into it, you see so much more beauty and creativity.  

Cult Nails Iconic is a deep red creme with red flakies and a golden shimmer throughout.  It is truly stunning.  As with all of my Cult polishes, it goes on perfectly.  I've been so impressed with the formula and the color selections of this company.  Each collection they release there are more "must haves" that show up on my wish list.  I wish them well for their continued success!

Salt N Peppa gets Felt Up Buttercup

Today's Rainbow Challenge color is Yellow.

Oy.

I have only 5 yellow polishes in my collection.  FIVE.  Out of some ungodly high number I try not to think about lest I feel sick.

The funny thing is I was completely torn between two of them, so I threw caution to the wind (I'm crazy like that) and used them both.  This is 2 coats of Revlon Buttercup (pinky, middle) and 3 coats of Cult Nails Feel Me Up (ring, pointer).   I put one coat of Lush Lacquer Salt N Peppa on top (how can you possibly not love the name of this?).

On the first coat Buttercup looked like it was going to be an epic fail, but after the 2nd it had complete coverage.  I like how the softness of the yellow brings out the iridescence in Salt N Peppa.  Feel Me Up went on a bit sheer and so I did three coats for full coverage.  I probably could have gotten away with 2 since I had the top coat.  I think the deeper yellow of Feel Me Up makes the white glitter of Salt N Peppa really pop.

Surprisingly, yellow doesn't look as bad as I thought it would on my skin!

As usual both Cult Nails and Lush Lacquer were amazing to work with.  These are two fantastic indie polish makers.

Part of the Cult

I scored several Cult Nails polish during their $5.00 deal about a month ago.  Here is 2 of them that I purchased during this sale.

This is two coats of Seduction - a limited edition red and blue flakie in a clear purple base overtop of two coats of Scandalous - a gorgeous coral jelly.  Both polishes went on the nail very well.  I can't wait to try Seduction over other colors and Scandalous on its own (although two coats wouldn't be enough - it would need at least one or two more coats to be more opaque).

I'm Addicted To You 'Cause You Know That I'm Toxic

Here is the gorgeous Toxic Seaweed by Cult Nails. It is this amazing green polish with tons of shimmer. This is one coat over two coats of Orly Lucky Ducky.

This was one of those polishes I would just stop and stare at throughout my day. It was limited edition and is now sold out of the store, but I am glad I was able to get it before it went away.
