A duo of pink for Valentine's week!

When I was going through and watermarking my photos I realized these two were so similar I'll put them in the post together.

To start is Avon Rose Suede, my first Avon.  I loved the suede finish on this and how it looks on the nail.  The application was pretty good, a bit runny and the clean up left sparkles here there and everywhere.  I really liked it though, I definitely want to get more of the Avon Suedes.

A few days later I put on Revlon Glitz & Glam, a pink glitter in a pink jelly base, you see two coats of this below.    I thought the coverage of this was outstanding, another good Revlon pick up for me!  I've had a lot of success with this brand.    This one had a lot of bling to it and really drew attention.

I realized I should have mentioned something the other day, in my KB Shimmer post my nails were much shorter than here, that is because my photos are on about a 2 week lag as to what was actually on my nails at the time.  So I had a break (my first in months) and now they are nubs, but this was when they were still long and beautiful!  I put the KB post out of sequence since it was a review for an upcoming collection.

Saucy

Today I have Revlon Saucy, an red base with orange/gold flecks in it.  Revlon is another one of those drug store polishes that rarely disappoints me.  It has a great formula and applies very well on the nail.  You see two coats below on the nail.

I thought this polish had a great look and with the shimmer it added a nice touch of pretty to the nail!  The price is right for a great polish!

Coffee, anyone?

Today I have a coffee themed mani, with two polishes named French Roast.

I started out with Revlon French Roast, a gorgeous coffee brown with slight micro-flakies to give it some interest.  This polish went on very well and I'm very happy with it.  I've had great luck with Revlon polishes in general. 

Then I sponged Cirque French Roast on the tips not too heavy, I just wanted a tad of visual interest without being like "glitter bomb!"  I was very happy with the blend of glitter colors in Cirque French Roast.

Now I need another espresso!

Halloween in the Rainforest

Sooo, I am very behind on nail posts.  I was doing my nails and taking pictures, but I just never had a huge chunk of time to sit down, pick the best ones, crop, watermark, etc.  So you are still going to be seeing a lot of Halloween manicures!  They are so pretty I just couldn't not share!

Today is two coats of Revlon Rainforest, a stunning green with green flakies.  I LOVED this polish when I saw it in a swatch and I knew it must be mine.  Thankfully my local Tarjay had them and I snapped that baby up in a heartbeat.  Great polish and application for me.  Perfect for stand alone or layering.

On top I did some dabbing of Dollish Polish This is Halloween on top.  A great mix of orange, green and gold glitters.  I loved this combo, so fun.  (and this isn't tip wear, it was stupid SV shrinkage, gah!).   

Look at the amazing that is Revlon Rainforest in this!

Salt N Peppa gets Felt Up Buttercup

Today's Rainbow Challenge color is Yellow.

Oy.

I have only 5 yellow polishes in my collection.  FIVE.  Out of some ungodly high number I try not to think about lest I feel sick.

The funny thing is I was completely torn between two of them, so I threw caution to the wind (I'm crazy like that) and used them both.  This is 2 coats of Revlon Buttercup (pinky, middle) and 3 coats of Cult Nails Feel Me Up (ring, pointer).   I put one coat of Lush Lacquer Salt N Peppa on top (how can you possibly not love the name of this?).

On the first coat Buttercup looked like it was going to be an epic fail, but after the 2nd it had complete coverage.  I like how the softness of the yellow brings out the iridescence in Salt N Peppa.  Feel Me Up went on a bit sheer and so I did three coats for full coverage.  I probably could have gotten away with 2 since I had the top coat.  I think the deeper yellow of Feel Me Up makes the white glitter of Salt N Peppa really pop.

Surprisingly, yellow doesn't look as bad as I thought it would on my skin!

As usual both Cult Nails and Lush Lacquer were amazing to work with.  These are two fantastic indie polish makers.

Chili Bomb

I've decided I'm in love with Revlon Jellies.  Royal was spectacular, so when I saw Chili, the orangey-red jelly, I had to buy it.  Yesterday I pocketed Cherry.  My goal is to locate every Revlon jelly and buy them because they are all freaking gorgeous!

So I have Revlon Chili today, 2 coats.  If I were wearing it alone I'd need 3 coats, but I knew I was doing this on the tips, so I left it at 2.  I dabbed China Glaze Blonde Bombshell on the tips for the bling.

I really like how this turned out!  Application was perfect on both fronts.

This mani is 2 days old, so I apologize for the tip wear.  My new part time job is apparently preparing my kids arsenal for summer camps.  We have record heat in the Mid-Atlantic so I need to pack a metric ton of cooling aids since my oldest is in a soccer camp outside ALL DAY LONG.  The funny thing is next week he's indoors the whole time, the weather will be perfection for being outside.

The Royal Snow Queen

Today I have another Once Upon a Polish for you - Snow Queen.

I was very thrilled with the way this glitter top coat came out, the matte white glitter sets it apart from the other silver top coats and the shredded silver adds that extra pop!

I started with 2 coats of Revlon Royal, which is seriously amazing.  Such a vibrant blue, I knew it would make the silver pop.  This jelly goes on like a dream and really is a fantastic polish, definitely pick it up next time you see it at the store!

Then I put one coat of Snow Queen on top.  I thought this polish spread out very well on the nail, in many ways  it reminds me of Deborah Lippmann Today Was a Fairy Tale (but definitely different!).   Snow Queen also lays down perfectly on the nail and is virtually smooth with a single coat of SV.

This is another one of those manis I just keep looking down at my nails and smiling.

Not Full of Whimsy

After stalking every single store in a 20 mile radius looking for Whimsical by Revlon, I finally found it at Ulta two weeks ago.  I've been planning the perfect time to use it.

This, however, turned out to be so very not what I was expecting.  I think this was due in large part to two failures on my part. 

Failure 1:  Poor underwear.  I thought these two would look good together.  I tried it on a swatch quickly and they seemed to.  However, they didn't. 

Failure 2:  Using NYC top coat.  NYC - you are dead to me.  Quite frankly this top coat and I are not friends.  We aren't even frenemies.  We are on the GTFO of my house level of hostility.  

After applying this polish, I topped it with NYC.  Within 10 minutes it seemed good to the touch.  20 minutes later I picked up my sons backpack, look down and see that ALL OF THE POLISH WAS GONE FROM MY THUMB.  Just wiped clean off.  WTF.  Then 15 minutes after that I looked down and 2 of my other fingers?  Also trashed.  This manicure looked like zombie flesh (and not in the good Dollish Polish way) not even 35 minutes later.  Goodbye NYC.

I started out with 2 coats of Orly Decades of Dysfunction, which is a white with pink/mauve undertones.  I thought it would make Whimsical pop on top of it with the pastels lending themselves together.  WRONG.  Then I topped it with 2 coats of Whimsical.  Then came the dreaded "top-coat-who-must-not-be-named".

Call me underwhelmed.  Next time I'll try a better base.

Yes, I know my ring finger is also goofed up, but I knew it was coming off, so why other trying to clean it up at this point.
