Zoya Tie-Dye

Today I have something fun I tried, I started off with a base of two coats of Zoya Purity.

This is my new go-to true white base!  I thought it went on well and had great coverage.

Then I took Zoya Rocky (blue) and Josie (green) and used a large kitchen sponge to dab it on.  The result was an awesome tie-dye effect!

I absolutely love the way this turned out!

Rocky and Josie are from the new Zoya Stunning 2013 Summer Collection and I'm thrilled with these two colors.

The quality on all of my Zoya polishes are outstanding.

  1. I LOVE THIS!!! I picked up Zoya Purity since I needed a good white polish and after seeing your post I'm glad I did! Who would have thought that a kitchen sponge would create such an awesome effect! You could also use a darker teal, aqua polish and it could resemble Caribbean waters!!

    1. Great idea of colors! I've tried others with the sponge and it never came out like I thought, but this was like 'whoa!' Further proof that you just have to keep trying! (I need to implement this with stamping!)

  2. Wow! Who would have known such a gorgeous effect can come from such a mundane object? Love it!

    1. I was thrilled, I think that was the first time I tried using it with cremes over a different color base, so I think I'll be using it more often!

    1. I like having fun, but I feel like I pale in comparison to some of the true nail artists, like they are Picasso and I'm the kindergartener with a paint brush in the wrong hand!

  5. Gorgeous! How did you keep the sponge flexable? Mine all go brittle when dry

    1. I don't know how Shannon does hers but I keep a little cup of water handy and dampen mine before I use it and add a little more water if it starts to dry out.

    2. I kept mine in a plastic container with a lid so it never really dried out and was slightly cool/damp. It wasn't all that bendy though, I just kept dabbing it on the nail around the curve. I dabbed it about 4-5 times per nail I think? Maybe more if the coverage wasn't great.
